A Day in the Recording Studio With Slackers!

“BootLeg Productions” presents…
“A Day in the Studio with Slackers…”

*****

Hey yous guys gotta look at today’s video! It’s pretty cool 🙂

Why?

Because today I’m actually sneaking you into the recording studio with me so you can meet a few musicians and see what happens when guys who obviously have no idea what they are doing, choose not to do the common sense thing (like spending some time to rehearse) but jump right in the studio and hit the RECORD button 🙂

Obviously this is all going to go very smoothly, and we won’t waste an second of expensive studio time.

The funny thing is we had a terrific blast! And while this kinda tom foolery isn’t normally allowed, I just had to pull some strings to get you an inside pass because I knew you guys would really dig seeing this.

Enjoy!

Yo’ Boy!

Alex

P.S. Oh yeah… look closely for the cameo appearance of a legendary Kung Fu master (who’s name we have to keep on the down low for obvious legal reasons…)

P.P.S. Comments… Comments… Comments! I invite your comments.

  1. Great stuff man. I even learned a thing or two from watching that. You never stop teaching me new stuff, even when you aren’t trying to. Thanks Alex!

  2. Well looks like you all had allot of fun that day and thanks for the insight into a day in the recording studio I enjoyed watching it and I think I learned a few things as well. Thanks Alex.

  3. Cool, Alex
that reminds me of more than one studio session!
It’s good to see you playing. I always think with any instruction course, no matter how much information someone gives you, it’s really good to just see them blast away and let you HEAR how the knowledge can be applied.

    Cheers again.

Still hoping for windows media video (.WMV) files of all the videos to download. Our internet PC is downstairs, I practice upstairs in the room with the non-Internet PC.
    – how about a download page, or a private link?

  11. Alex,

I enjoyed seeing what happens inside a studio. I practice every day but I think I’m still a long
way from being able to do anything close to what you do.

    Thanks Clyde “the glide”

  12. Way to get us excited! I learned a lot from your method. I have been playing for 9 months now and have been in a band since day 1. I continue to get compliments on my playing and no one will believe that I haven’t been playing bass for years.

  14. very interesting i,am a guitar player trying to learn bass i enjoy your method. its real good lots of theory i,am starting with a 4 string. maybe you can show a demo with a 4 string bass, thanks god bless

  15. I wish I could see this! After half of the morning downloading, I got up to the drummer starting things up and then the download stopped…wouldn’t go further. Dial up is horrible folks! Maybe someday they will bring high speed out to my area. Anyway, if you know of a way that I could see this, please let me know.
    Thanks.

  16. thanx Alex!!! I really dug it. You are a phenomenal bass player, and a wonderful person to think about all of your students/fans. I appreciate you, and thanx for letting me “Hang”. Take care of yourself, and keep those hands safe.

  17. Hi Alex,
Thanks for the behind-the-scenes look at your recording session. I appreciate your efforts to keep the posse informed! Keep it comin’!
    Steve

  18. You all may be studio slackers but I must say all three of you are pro-players. Alex this is quite Enjoyable to watch & listen too even if it is mished & mashed. Your bass speed along with that perfect groove is what knocks me over. And that drummer, jazz jazz jazz. Keep up the surprises.
    John

  27. soundz great alex, thankz 4 taking me along, wish i was there and heard it all 1st hand! anyway like the bars……………. later rob b.

  28. Great so see you jumping on the Internet Video Band Wagon. No pun intended. The Crew looked like they were working hard. Sorry to hear you had an accident with your finder, but happy to hear it’s cool and will do what the body does best…heal.

I play the flute and bass 2-3 times a month for small groups (hobby and money) of people, but use my hands and fingers with reckless abandon, so I often think about what I would do with my music if…

Thanks again for sharing with us. I truly feel I’ve received the best education and tools from your Home study course. I’m been using it for about a year and a half now and just getting to the groove section in Volume 2. But I often have to pick up and review volume one and the supplementary guides. I think I’m about to make a huge break through with this Goove Suck method.

I didn’t know how much I really listened to the drums as a flute player but people always complimented me on my phrasing…not I’m finally getting it on the bass, it’s a whole new paradigm playing the bass than the flute, but by george, I think I’ve got it.

  30. LOL!! You’re awesome Alex! Man I bet that bass line was HOT that you were playin’ and you didn’t even let us hear ’em! lol but hey im not questioning the masters motives. All in due time right? Hurry up with those tracks man. I’m ready to be amazed! =J

  31. your a musician wish i had the time to develop that skill level any chance you can give us your opinion of what we do any comments from those that are qualified to comment is well appreciated thanks Alex by the way kung fu master idea is very cool.

  32. comments from Charles
I really did dig your gig that you guys had I will be glad when I get to that level. I am sure that I will pretty soon, with your help thanks Alex

  33. Though I only been playing since late December thanks to your course and all the extras I’ve learned alot. This video sets the bar quite high for us to emulate. Thanks for all gifts you share.

  34. Hi Alex,
Great to here from you again. I think it’s excellent what you do.
Playing with other people feels a bit daunting to me at the moment, but would be a heap of fun.
    Thanks for everything.
    GarryO.
p.s. I used to be a driller (big hydraulic rigs) and I alway’s told my offsider’s to never put their finger’s where they would’nt put their…….well, you know. 🙂 Get well soon, mate.

  35. Talk about being stretched, and teased. You continue to shed light in areas that have infinite possiblities. This is a interesting direction to be taking someone who’s used to playing prog. rock. Thanks Alex, you do stretch me and that’s a good thing..

  36. Great stuff!! As usual. Thanks for doing what you do. Since I really started to learn to play bass you’ve been a great help, with BGS Volumes 1 &2, BGS Groove Station & JamBox, plenty tracks and more. I don’t refer to them as much as I should, mainly because I’ve been busy gigging. I’ll make time for that. I wanted to thank you and to say be careful around those drills man, I want to see what’s next.

  37. Entertaining stuff, Alex, look forward to listening to the jam tracks. Keep it up. What with all the add-on’s, your bass course has been a very good investment and I don’t regret a penny of it!

  38. Alex, I have to say I’ve been to a few rehearsal sessions and the same thing happened. I used to play in a gospel band and we never performed what we rehearsed. Thanks for the hard work and dedication that you put into teaching. As an up and coming bassist I have learned alot from you! Thanks again

  39. Alex,
Awesome that your giving a look to the inside of recording. I’ve been to the recording studio twice, once prepared, one not (I told the guys we wern’t ready yet,but we went, luckly we were not paying for the time), but good experience. Thanks for all your help.

    Scott

  40. U’re just too wonderful Men!

    I can feel the grooveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

    thanks

    Steve(Nigeria)

  41. That was a lot of fun to watch; and I’m sure you guys had a lot more fun in the studio 🙂 Thanks for sharing more of this behind the scenes; I really enjoy watching them and look forward to seeing more.
