Genius exercise that builds exceptional bass technique…

The title video title says it all on this one… One quick WARNING though…

The 2nd part of this video is getting removed and put on another site in a few days… I’m just giving my blog readers a heads up before that happens.

So I’d watch both parts ASAP if I were you.

  1. well done bro. I can see how that exercise would increase my chops! thanks for the free extended break down.

  2. Hey Alex,
Let me tell you why I think these video breakdowns when used in conjunction with the course are great… they allow the student to check their fingerings against yours and determine if they(the student) were able to accomplish the exercise with fluidity using a fingering with a greater degree of difficulty.. an example being the second measure of Etude No. 18.. using the 4th finger to accomplish the A to D(5th fret E string to A string crossing)jump.
There are more examples in this piece, but I’m sure that you get my drift.
Thanks for giving us a way to check OUR work against YOURS!

    Bass Chops Accelerator is great.

    Thanks,
    Ken

  3. Man your on the money Alex t, this exersice is great for the fingers strength. keep up the blogs

  4. All good Dood
A a lot of jazz greats played /studied classical type motives …
    Cheers Mark

  5. man, you make this stuff look way too easy, so I guess the three things i really need to know is practice, practice, practice, but it’s just what I need to improve dexterity. Thanks again.

  6. Good ole Etude 18 I been practicing this forever. That sound is ingrained in my mind. I never broke the exercise down like that though. Thanks a lot Alex. This is why you continue to be the man. I use to hate breaking down and studying music but now I LOVE IT!!!!

  7. OK, BCA just arrived. (within 3 days!!!) All Beef and all Alex. I’m about to pop in the DVD and start in. Thanks for the opening words.
    I like it.

  8. Hey thanks for the breakdown. I have been slowly working my way through the Chops book and to see you do the exercise is such a great help. I find that I have a sticky pinky on bars 5 and 7 and I end up pulling the G string as I release to go to the E. Any suggestions on how to stop this? Thanks and keep up the great lessons. I feel myself improving daily.

  9. Hey Alex…the breakdowns are excellent and much appreciated…6 months ago I wouldn’t have had one sweet clue what you were talking about…degrees …modes..arpeggios…reversals…chromatics!
Now it all makes sense man…keep up the great work!

  10. Hello Alex,

Thnx for the breakdown it is a help to get the feel of the exercise as I cant read music. I am currently working on exercise 4 in chopz volum 1.

    Cheers

  11. Hey Alex:

This breakdown goes so well with your course. Even without the Tab, it makes more sense as a learning curve to listen & watch, see what you are doing and then try to replicate it a phrase at a time. I have just about got the whole exercise under my fingertips. In fact I can now improvise a little bit off what you are presenting.
    You’re presentations are excellent.

  12. Ok great stuff and I want to play it but I m a reader and need either tab or the score – help bro’ I tried to find the tab at the basschopz site but no go. Just watching does not get it for me as I get the root and several notes from that but miss out on developin g the chopz tom

  13. ok now I take it back that was really useful and although I do not have it perfectly copied there were excellent shapes and connections that I nevermade before! Thak you! tom

  14. Hey Alex,
The accelerator exercise is fantanstic obviously, but for some reason I am having trouble catching all the phrases and all the notes. I’m not sure if it is just because it is a collection of very different patterns than I am used to playing or if it needs to be just a little slower for me to catch it (more note by note). I jam with a guitar player/singer every Sat. 3-10pm and make up my own lines from the chord charts that he has for the hundreds of songs we play. You and your instuction is exactly what I have been looking for and my Question is ; Before I order the whole course to go with the BGM Groove Station that I just got, am I to understand that you are about to introduce a new version of your course and if so is there a price difference?? Please advise. I’ll likely buy the cd-rom version.

  15. HAY ALEX, I WOULD LOVE TO ORDER THE HOLE THING,BUT I CAN’T RIGHT NOW THE MONEY IS’T THIER. BUT SOON AS I CAN I WILL YOU HAVE MY WORD. BESIDES IT’S A GREAT BUY’AND YOUR GREAT TEACHER. ICAN’T DO IT RIGHT NOW SORRY MY LOSE I UNDERSTAND.I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND. YOUR TRULY!!!! SCOOGA PS, I HOPE YOU WILL STILL HAVE ME AS YOUR STUDENT.

  16. This information is very informative and I have ordered the trial. Would you consider showing the fret hand up closer to make it better understood? I don’t know the chord names, etc., so it is sort of hard for me to follow the exercises. Thanks.
