READ THIS NOW: "For Bass Players Who Can't Confidently Jam By Ear..."

Announcing - The "Confident & Creative" Bass Intensive

Give me 16 weeks, and I'll help you become a more confident and creative bassist who can survive and shine, even in unrehearsed "jam" situations!

This is a 3 minute video and a 2 minute decision

How to Install the Language of Bass Method™ And play creative bass ideas In spontaneous situations - By Ear!

How'd you like to be a part of this?

I’m looking for a handful of amateur bass players who are truly sick and tired of being stuck.

If you've grown tired of hearing the same old talk about scales and arpeggios, but don't even feel motivated to practice anymore because they aren't making any difference...

...I’m going to work DIRECTLY with you to install the exact skills you need to be able to confidently walk into an open mic, jam session, or Sunday service and keep-up alongside experienced musicians, even if you're playing things you didn't specifically rehearse.

And we'll do this WITHOUT:

  • Bogging you down with hundreds of hours of videos to watch…
  • Any confusion about what exactly to practice daily (instead there will be singular weekly missions that bring you closer each week to being a bassist who is confident and capable to sit in with others and play by ear)
  • Boring you to death with dozens of scale exercises you’ve already seen hundreds of times, that don’t really do much to improve what you play…

…All while practicing no more than 3-5 hours a week!

You’ll be implementing (with my direct hands-on help) my specific Language of Bass™ Framework to improvise and play music with the ease and predictability that you speak your first language.

For the past 20 years, we’ve quietly been helping amateur bassists play bass they can truly feel proud of, but I’m excited to say that our unique (and newest) framework to “treat music like a real spoken language” is the most direct and transformative method we’ve developed, and has helped thousands play who never thought they would.

And now it’s your turn!

Our Goal Is Simple:

I don't want you to have any more guesswork trying to figure out what to practice... If you're doing it right or how to put it all together.

In 4 laser-focused months we’re going to wipe the slate clean and re-build your bass playing to have you:

  • Confidently jamming with other musicians you may currently be avoiding – even if they like making things up on the spot…
  • …Improvising far better original ideas off the top of your head, proving you can “keep up and shine” alongside more experienced players…
  • …Fluently executing the ideas locked away in your head, in multiple areas of the fretboard with more fluency and predictability…

No more unnecessary information, random exercises and ping-ponging between 1,001 different things that “can work” trying to duct-tape it all together.

Just precise and measurable progress week by week in those three big areas.

But I have to be completely transparent.

For you to get the attention and help you need to meet these goals, 1) the class needs to be kept small and 2) there are a few requirements to be invited into this group...

This won’t work for you if you:

  • …Are absolutely brand spanking new and don’t have even basic playing technique yet…
  • …Are content just learning to play a few songs…
  • …Ok investing $1,000’s on gear but complain about investing into the knowledge and help to really play the instrument fluently…
  • …Still think you’re just one magic scale exercise away from figuring this all out…
  • …Aren’t motivated or coachable enough to make a serious run at this…
  • …Are fine with wasting hours, days and weeks of your life (that you’ll never get back) noodling around YouTube™ and dime-a-dozen membership sites…

On the other hand, if you:

  • Have enough basic technique to play a major scale in time with a metronome…
  • Want more for your musicianship than just learning a few tunes with bass tabs…
  • Are easy to work with, can take direction well and follow a custom, weekly practice plan…
  • Finally want to get off the treadmill of “getting more information that you can’t ever seem to apply”…

…Then this is a very REAL opportunity to take your bass playing to a level that has possibly eluding your for decades.

Here's our Exact 16-week Game plan

PHASE ONE
Upgrading your hands and ears | Weeks 1 to 12

To start off, we’ll immediately focus on:

  • A practical way to train your ears so you can more confidently follow songs "in real time"... (Using our super powerful “Fast Ears” Protocol™)
  • And a straight-forward plan to upgrade your left/right technique without 1,000 more random scale exercises...

In my 20+ years working with amateur bassists, this proves to be two of the biggest underlying weaknesses preventing them from confidently playing like they want to.

Not a lack of scales… Or a shortage of "theory"…

…Primarily, you can’t yet hear and understand music the way other musicians can and your hands let you down when you try to play things…

And after thousands of hours of personal experience, research, trial and error, feedback from clients and "interrogating" colleagues, we have finally developed two potent processes to predictably give you fast ears and reliable hands!

And I'm going to work with you hand-in-hand to improve both of those deficiencies, so you can feel more capable sitting in with others rather than feeling like the weak link.

PHASE TWO
Installing True Fretboard Control | Weeks 8 - 10

Once your ears and fingers have gotten an upgrade, it’s time to learn a system for accurately mapping “the things your ears hear”, onto the fretboard without having to stop and think about it.

There are a number of things people try when attempting to crack this puzzle…

(You may, for example, have practiced scales, arpeggios and modes up and down the fretboard till you’re blue in the face, yet still get lost trying to follow a song on-the-fly.)

That’s because, while these things have their place, ultimately fretboard freedom depends on how well you VISUALIZE the fretboard’s geometry, which in my experience is something not 1 in 10 students have up to scratch... Even after playing for YEARS.

Every single bassist I know, who has outstanding fretboard control, has gotten to a point where they simply see fretboard connections "instinctively".

That’s what allows them to use their scales, modes, arpeggios freely and to play in any key…

...It’s what allows them to fluidly connect the lower, middle and higher registers of the instrument flawlessly without consistently stepping on bum notes…

And like it or not, until you can SEE this singular “matrix” (from every angle), your chances of navigating the entire neck with confidence are gonna continue to be slim.

Well I’ve got great news for you.

We’ve designed a game-changing software program and made it available to our students specifically for this exact reason.

Use it, and within 3 weeks, I guarantee you’ll be seeing the fretboard the way advanced intermediate players see it.

Whether you’re jamming, writing bass lines, or improvising, FULLY understanding this specific fretboard geometry will make the single biggest difference between playing with freedom, fluency, and true musical instinct...

...OR continuing to find yourself terrified of venturing past the first 5 frets, constantly hitting bum notes when following musicians or being so deep in “thought” that you’re left behind as the song plays.

PHASE THREE
Elevate your musical vocabulary | Weeks 12 - 16

And finally, to really give you a real edge in "live jam" situations we'll spend five focused weeks drastically elevating your musical vocabulary... This way you have far more creative options for “what to play” as you follow song progressions on the fly.

Now that you’re capable of confidently following songs by ear and navigating the neck with more confidence, it’s time to up the ante.

Sure you can build functional bass lines using just root notes and arpeggios…

…But whether you admire players like Jaco Pastorius or James Jamerson… Victor Wooten or Nathan East… Paul McCartney or Pino Pallidino… Sting or Andrew Gouché, the undeniable fact is that the creativity and versatility all those musicians display is solidly because they all have a more extensive range of bass vocabulary than you do…

PERIOD!

So in Phase 3 I'm going to directly show you:

  • My absolute favorite and must know "bass words" to speak the language like you know what you're doing, and further, to spice up bland, uninspired bass grooves when they feel flat and uninspired…
  • Exactly how you can be far more creative with the structure of your bass parts, top to bottom.

I’ve got an arsenal of musical devices AND a powerful bass line creation “template” you can follow that I guarantee will immediately inject that “it factor” your bass playing has been missing.

Arguably the Single Most valuable skill you can Have as An Amateur Bassist...

In short, we’re going to give you the tools you need to:

  1. Listen to a song being played,
  2. Very quickly understand what is happening and...
  3. Spontaneously “speak” and improvise some damn good bass lines alongside musicians you may currently be too shy to perform or even jam with.

Students Prove That Our stuff flat out wORKS!

Now obviously you're thinking, "That all sounds great Alex, but can you actually do these things?"

Truth is, you shouldn't "believe me" at all...

Instead let these folks tell you about their OWN experience!

You've probably got a few questions?

When & where?

We’re kicking off now!

I’ll put you inside a private community with me and give you access to our step-by-step path to start executing Phase 1 pronto, which is, training your ear using our "Fast Ears Protocol" and upgrading elements of your technique.

We’re in there with you daily answering questions and helping along the way.

And twice a month you jump on a live Zoom™ meeting with me personally for in-person coaching, check-ins, questions, demonstrations and guidance.

How does this all work?

Honestly I'm looking for people who can implement the steps and report back with their results…

I'm taking people today and I'm inviting YOU to join the crew…

Good news is, this isn’t some long-winded “course” with 103 sections and 4,332 hours of videos to watch.

I’ll give you bite sized chunks you can knock out quickly, then get to spending most of your time practicing and building the muscle memory to apply the things I show you.

I really want to create some great case studies from this so I’ll be dedicating time with you to make sure we maximize your results.

How much time do I need?

I’d recommend allotting between 3 – 5 hours a week for targeted, no-nonsense practice. That’s plenty.

You can split that up throughout the week however you like, but I’ll be giving you very specific goals and benchmarks each week as we go along and 3 – 5 hours is a really good estimate to nail the tasks.

Oh also…

Groups thrive on contribution. When you are getting wins as you go along we need you to share that success so others can learn from you.

Is this good for beginners?

Yes and no… It depends on your definition of “beginner”…

I talk to folks all the time who have been playing for more than 10 years but still acknowledge that their playing still sounds pretty “beginner”.

But, if you’ve never touched an instrument before, need guidance in how to hold it, tune it, and you couldn’t play a simple song even if I gave you the bass tabs, then you should probably skip this one.

If however you have some basic left and right hand technique (meaning you can play a major scale in time with a metronome), you can play a song or two (even if you need tabs) and
you have a strong desire to go from simply “learning songs” to finally playing things you can truly feel proud of, then that’s enough for us to work with.

Do I need any special equipment?

Nope, nothing special.

A good working computer with a webcam, your bass and amp are all you need.

We’ll be doing the live portion via Zoom™ (which is free to download and use). So technophobes need not worry.

That said, for those who want to get fancy with things like an audio interface, external mics and the like, you’re more than welcome to overachieve as well and I’ll give you some great recommendations for those.

What styles of music will we cover?

This is a question I get a lot.

Primarily the things I’ll be showing you align perfectly with most popular genres… So we’re talking Rock, Gospel, CCM, Pop, Blues, Funk, R&B, Smooth Jazz, etc…

Now if you play a style of music outside of those listed you’ll still get a heck of a lot of value out of the program because at the end of the day we’re all using the same 12 notes and principles are easily adaptable…

But if you’re asking me specifically, those genres will cover the type of assignments and practice tracks etc. we’ll be working with.

Are there any bonuses?

Ok fine... I’ll be nice…

The first ten (10) folks to enroll will also unlock a copy of our “Premium Playalongs Master Collection”. This has a retail value of $295 but will be an invaluable resource for you.

Here’s why…

Once you complete the “The Confident Bassist” Implementation Program, chances are, you’ll be super pumped to get to playing some bass more often… Either with bands, your friends, or just jamming on your own.

And one of the best ways to put the new skills you’ve learned into practice, is by playing along to songs you already know and love, and want to put your own bass lines to.

So my team of top-notch musicians has created a massive vault of 319+ songs for you, (without the bass tracks in there) so that you can improvise your own bass lines.

It’s literally like having a killer band on call, 24/7 to practice with at your convenience.

Oh by the way, you can’t get access to this any other way. So if you’re even moderately interested in this class I’d get on this right away just to secure that bonus.

What's the investment?

The enrollment fee for the 16-week program is just $795.

...But because I know the economy is kinda tight and you may honestly be unsure if you want to gamble on this, I’ll make this super easy and LOW RISK for you to get started…

Pay just $95 to secure your spot, then choose your own payment plan for the rest. No interest, no finance charges, no monkey business.

And I'll even give you a "Love it or leave it" 60-day test-drive period.

I personally promise, if you do what I put in front of you, you’ll see more actual bass playing progress in the first 60 days than you’ve probably seen in the last 6 months hacking it on your own.

So, clearly by the end of Phase 1, we’ll both know if we want to keep working together or not.

If something's not right, or either of us isn’t feeling it, we'll just "tear up the agreement" and walk away as friends.

But as long as we’re both good, you'll continue through the 4-month period to ensure you get the full benefit of all three (3) phases.

So, there's no risk to getting started and the financial commitment is lower than most weekly private lessons!

That's the full rundown!

Like I said, it's a small group, and I'm looking for the right people. And it's first come, first served.

The "Confident Bass Player" intensive has all the stuff you need and NONE of the stuff you don't...

So if you...

  • Have been playing bass for more than 2-3 years…
  • Want to do more than just learn a few songs…

  • Are friendly and coachable...
  • Don't want to quit on you bass playing dreams without giving it one good solid go...

...We kick off on Monday June 2.
